I am replacing a ceiling fan that works with pull chains. The new ceiling fan doesn’t have the chains and comes with with a “wall mount remote”. I only have 1 wall switch in the room. It currently controls a lamp that is plugged into a wall receptacle. The wiring for the fan came from the attic. Is this a complicated job that only an electrician should do?

Hi Shellie,
When replacing a ceiling fan that was not controlled by a wall switch you may consider getting the same type ceiling fan with pull chains or purchase a ceiling fan with a hand held remote control, otherwise you will have to have a cable installed from the ceiling fan to a new wall switch. Take it from me, the handheld remote is the easiest solution which also provides the best control options, and some remote controls come with a wall mounted wall bracket.
