Planning a Circuit for an Electric Welder
[ad#block]Question: I want to run a small inverter welder 120 volt in my home,

Here are the specifications for my welder:

  1. Would 12/2 Romex wire about 25′ suffice, or do I need to use 10/2 Romex?
  2. I have the old screw in fuse box, maybe I can find a line with a thirty amp fuse in it.
  3. Would a 20 amp fuse work?

I understand about other loads which may be connected to it.
Also, about how many amps can those old cloth covered oily wires in old houses running out of the fuse box usually carry ?
Save me having to measure the gauge, the wiring in this house is a nightmare, someday I will rewire it.

This is a testing tool that I have had in my personal electrical tool pouch for years, and is the first test tool I grab to help identify electrical wiring. My absolute favorite wire stripping tool that I have had in my personal electrical tool pouch for years, and this is the tool I use to safely strip electrical wires.
This handy tool has multiple uses:
The wire gauges are shown on the side of the tool so you know which slot to use for stripping insulation.
The end of the tool can be used to grip and bend wire which is handy for attaching wire onto the screw terminals of switches and outlets..
