When lights that are on dimmer switches don’t work, make sure you understand the difference between Master and Slave dimmer switches. |
Last problem we discussed was solved. New problem, I installed two track lights and two ceiling fans in the place of recessed lights. The ceiling fan motors have their own circuit, but the lights on the fans are on the same circuit as the track lights, which are on three-way dimmer switches (here we go again).
These are 600-watt switches. After combining the wattage of each bulb on this circuit, totals to 880 watts. – POOF!
I only removed the old lights and installed the new lights and they do not work, the lights that is! Please help!!!
I checked both switches, one switch has power going into the switch and power from the switch.
[ad#block]I think this is because the dimmer is fried. You can test it by shutting off the power and installing a standard 3-way switch in place of the dimmer. Mark your wires so you know what goes where. Usually the two wires paired close on the dimmer are the travelers and the one by itself is the “Point” which is the power or the line going to the fixtures, depending on how your 3-ways are wired.
