Converting Switched Electrical Outlet Wiring
Background: Steve, a Handyman from Woodbury, MN
[ad#block]Question: I currently have 3 outlets that are half full time hot and the other half is switched by a single pole switch. Two things: First, I want the outlets to be full hot. Second is I still need Black White and Ground where the switch was in order to replace it with a lighting communication keypad. in the box where the switch was, there is only Black White and Ground coming into it. If I wire the White and Black together after removing the switch, the outlets are hot and are no longer switched. (ok good) Not so fast. If I start over and wire the white black and ground to my lighting keypad respectively…. The keypad lights up but now the switched part of the outlets has no power. I hope this was descriptive enough for you to provide some feedback. I can send pictures later if needed but I am not able to access them right now. Please help.
Additional Comments: so far so good.
