Electrical Question from Angela about 3 Way Switch Diagram
[ad#block]Question: I am hanging a chandelier in a room where no fixture exists. I want to know whether I can wire it so that the power goes first to the light fixture, then to two separate switches on either side of the room. Also, can this be done with a dimmer switch? If so, would both switches need dimmers, or only one?
Dave’s Reply:
Thanks for your electrical question Angela. Yes, wiring can be installed where the power source enters at the fixture box as you mentioned. Either one or two standard 3-way dimmer switches may be used to control the chandelier light fixture. Be sure to check compatibility of your wiring configuration with the 3-way dimmers that you purchase.
