Adding a Light for a Hot Tub or Spa that is Not a Shock Hazard
Circuit Provision from a Hot Tub or Spa Circuit Panel
Hot Tub and Spa Circuit Wiring
- The electrical circuit wiring for a hot tub or spa is designed specifically for the unit and should not be tapped into at the location of the unit. However if the circuit enters a circuit breaker panel and the panel has provision for an additional circuit breaker then an additional circuit can be added for a light fixture.
- The new light circuit and light fixture must be wired according to code where it may require GFCI protection if it is in the area for the hot tub or spa.
- The installation of this circuit and wiring should be done with a permit and have the necessary inspections.
