How To Wire a Four Way Switch

Application: Wiring a 4-Way Light Switch.
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced – Best installed by a Licensed Electrician.
Tools Required: Basic Electricians Pouch Hand Tools and Power Tools for installing electrical wiring, and Voltage Tester.
Estimated Time: Depends on personal level experience and ability to work with hand and power tools.
Precaution: Identify the lighting circuit, turn it OFF and Tag it with a Note before working with the wiring.
Notice: Installing additional 3-way or 4-way switch wiring should be done according to local and national electrical codes with a permit and be inspected.

Larry, thanks for the wiring diagram, however I cannot show it here because it is incorrect, unless the power starts at the light, and it does not appear that way. To make this work you would need an additional cable run between the power source and the switch box where the cable leads to the light fixture.  Please see the 4-way switch wiring diagrams and instruction using the links below.

• As for installing a digital timer light switch, If the digital timer requires its own neutral connection then it will require a neutral wire in the switch box of the proposed location.
• There are some time switches which make use of the common through the lamp of an incandescent light fixture, or if is stated otherwise in the installation manual.
