[ad#block]Electrical Question: I’m having my service upgraded to 200 amp my question is about connecting from the mast pipe coming through the roof to the new meter socket.
- The pipe coming through the roof is 2 in threaded and I would be would using a 2 in rigid coupling a 2 in watertight connector into that then EMT into another 2 in water tight connector to the meter socket hub, or do I have to buy a $40 stick of rigid conduit and a rigid connector or have it threaded to be code.

- If a coupling is needed the it should be placed closest to the electric meter equipment which will allow for a solid length or rigid pipe to penetrate the roof for the service mast.
- Yes, rigid conduit is expensive however it offers the best protection.
- Some areas may allow IMC which is less expensive but it is still a solid conduit.
