Summary: In most areas there are sure to be electrical contractors who would be willing to help you learn the electrical trade. Here is an organization where you may find electricians that may help you learn and offer you the chance to practice what you learn.

On the Job Experience

There is nothing quite like on the job training and experience. Yes, learning as much as you can about home electrical wiring by reading books or attending classes at your local college is very important, but having the opportunity of learning out at a construction site can be very rewarding.

I would guess that most locations have a few volunteer building projects that are taking place and they may be looking for eager helpers, and there may be an opportunity to help an electrician who has been in the trade for several years who would enjoy sharing his knowledge with a eager listener.

Habitat for Humanity - An Opportunity to Help Others and Learn

Habitat for Humanity is one such organization that has home building projects taking place in several lo actions throughout the world.
Electrical Constriction Training
Habitat for Humanity is not an organization that offers free training, however you can volunteer to help out at a home building project and request to help an electrician who will be installing the electrical wiring.
Opportunity to Help Others and Learn
I have participated with several Habitat for Humanity home building projects in our area and I can honestly say that this is a fine organization that helps others build their own home at a reduced rate compared to purchasing a conventional home with a large mortgage.
