Electrical Question about Voltage Adapters

By Dave Rongey - Summary:

I have a small fan that calls for a 3v adapter. Can I use a 7v adapter instead?

Electrical Question from June about Other Electrical Issue
Background: June, a Homeowner from Farmington Hills, MI

Question: I have a small fan that calls for a 3v adapter. Can I use a 7v adapter instead?

Dave’s Reply:
Thanks for your electrical question June. No – you really need to stay with the 7v designation otherwise you will damage the fan motor windings. I believe you will find multi-voltage adapters at Radio Shack, Best Buy  or any home electronics outlet store.
