Control Wiring for a Water Pump With Energy Monitors

Thanks for your electrical question Debadutta.
Wiring a Water Pump and Controls
Debadutta, this could be accomplished using two low voltage control switches which would activate a double pole, double throw relay or contactor. The power to the pump would be connected to the common terminals, one switch circuit and energy monitor would be connected to the normally open set of contacts, and the other switch circuit and energy monitor would be connected to the normally closed set of contacts. The main power would be ahead of the control relay to provide as the main on and off master power switch.

This section will cover the use of relays that are sometimes needed to control special device loads such as Generators, Air Conditioners and other high demand equipment. The content is explained through industrial controls but the principles can be easily adapted to residential wiring applications as well.
